Ⅲ. Gentooのインストール(Installing Gentoo)

1. コンパイルオプションの設定(Configuring the Compile Options)

# nano -w /etc/make.conf

CFLAGS="-O2 -march=pentium3 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe"
CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu"
CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"

2. USE変数の設定(Configuring the USE variable)

# nano -w /etc/make.conf

USE="mmx sse apm pcmcia usb nls cjk alsa canna"

3. ブートストラップに必要なファイルのダウンロード(Downloading the necessary sources)

# cd /usr/portage
# scripts/bootstrap.sh -f			[約4分:回線速度に依存]

4. ブートストラップの実行(Bootstrapping the system)

# scripts/bootstrap.sh			[約383分]

5. ベースシステムのインストール(install base system)

# emerge --fetchonly system			[約3分:回線速度に依存]
# emerge system				[約301分]

Ⅳ. コンフィグファイルの設定(Setting up Configuration Files)

1. タイムゾーンの設定(Set timezone information)

# ln -sf /usr/share/zoneinfo/Japan /etc/localtime

2. fstabファイルの設定(Edit fstab file)

下記は、変更点のみ。

# nano -w /etc/fstab

/dev/hda2   /boot     ext3    noauto,noatime    1 2
/dev/hda3   /         ext3    noatime           0 1
/dev/hda6   /home     ext3    noatime           0 1
/dev/hda5   none      swap    sw                0 0

Ⅴ. カーネルのインストール(Installing the Kernel)

1. カーネルソースをインストール(Install the kernel sources)

カーネルは2.6系を入れる(linux-2.6.8-gentoo-r3)

# emerge gentoo-dev-sources

2. カーネル構築ツールをインストール(Configure your kernel using genkernel...)

# emerge genkernel

3. カーネル再構築

取り合えず、プロセッサの設定をPentium3にして、PCMCIA/USB関係で必要なドライバを組み込む。要らないドライバ類は、取り合えずそのまま。(後日、最適化する。予定ｗ)

# genkernel --menuconfig all			[約105分：コンフィグの時間を含まず]

Processor type and features --->
  Processor family (Pentium-4(gcc>31)Pentium-III/Celeron(Coppermine)/Pentium-III Xeon)
